Knitsugi is a mending sampler with a vanilla socks pattern.

Scars are usually considered evidence of hard living that should be covered, but the thing is, they do not form on dead objects. Scars represent life and healing, survival and revival.

Posttraumatic growth can only occur after a person experiences trauma. In the practice of kintsugi, golden joinery, broken or chipped ceramics are repaired with golden lacquer. The finished pieces are uniquely beautiful.

Let yourself become immersed in the process of this project. Contemplating your own metaphor for posttraumatic growth as you carefully consider and lovingly repair your socks. By examining the results of the damage that is inflicted on the socks, you will gain a better understanding of the strengths that remain.

You will do your repairs with golden thread, so choose a yarn for your socks that will show the contrast well.
