Keep that noggin cozy AND knowledgeable this winter! The DNA hat uses a repeating motif to add some scientific flair to an already plush hat design. So pick up that leftover bulky weight yarn and cast on for the scientific people in your life!

This pattern is written to be as simple as possible: the hat is worked from the top down in the round, no shaping required. All instructions are written in text, except for the DNA colorwork section, which is completed by following a simple colorworking chart.

The hat is designed to be about 10’’ in length with brim unfolded or 8’’ with brim folded. Pom pom not included in measurements. It should fit most adults (head circumference 22’’ to 24’’).

Difficulty: Intermediate

Skills used in this pattern: knit, purl, kfb, stranded colorworking, basic yarn sewing, pom pom making. For best results, it is helpful to know the concept of yarn dominance.
