The fingerless gloves knitting process is divided into the following steps:
- Knit the right and left gloves separately.
- Knit the cuff, then work increases for the thumb.
- Continue knitting the main part of the hand: first in stockinette stitch, then switch to ribbing and bind off the stitches.
- Finally, knit the thumb and bind off the stitches.
This pattern is suitable for beginners, universal and works up quickly. Includes brand (and analogues) and colors of yarn shown.
MATERIALS and TOOLS
1. I used 10 ply/aran/worsted DROPS Big Merino Superwash treated extra fine merino
wool, 100% Wool, 50 g (1.76 oz), 75 mt (82 yards), red color 18. You can use any
suitable merino wool yarn with similar footage and properties for the specified size. The
following yarn is also suitable:
— Lana Gatto Maxi Soft,100% Extrafine Merino Wool, 50 g (1.76 oz), 90 mt (98
yards);
— Malabrigo Rios 100% Merino Wool, 100 g (3.53 oz), 192 mt (210 yards);
— Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted, 50 g (1.76 oz), 101 mt (110 yards).
For one pair mittens you will need:
— S sizes (16-17 cm) about 80-90 grams (2.8–3.2 Oz) of yarn;
— M sizes (18-20 cm) about 90-100 grams (3.2–3.5 Oz) of yarn;
— L sizes (21-22 cm) about 100-110 grams (3.5–3.9 Oz) of yarn;
- Set of 4 Double pointed needles or circular needles with a long 80 cm cable or Addi Crazy Trio needles. I used US 4 (3.5mm) size KnitPro Zing double pointed needles. Choose knitting needles from 3.0 mm to 4 mm (US sizes 2.5–6) based on the specified knitting gauge and your yarn.
- Scissors; needle, markers, centimeter measuring tape, crochet hook 4.0 mm (US G-6) or less.
