Inspired by the crochet Campfire Cardigan by Jess Coppom, this uses a knitted lace triangle to make up the hexagonal shapes for the two halves of the cardigan.
The pattern is a chart for the lace hexagon and two pdfs describing how put it together. I made this up as I went along and tried to write it down so the pattern is mostly from my notes. I’d probably make more button holes if I did it again.
Each hexagon is knitted in the round so you cast on six stitches to start and the first round is yarn over knit 1 six times to give 12 stitches. The next round is knit 12 and the third round is yarn over knit 1 twelve times as shown in the chart.
The hexagons are grafted together down the Centre back seam and over the shoulders to make it seamless because I hate sewing up knitting. The collar, front bands and waist are knitted continuously in the round in moss stitch.
I made it in a size that fitted me - around 102 cm bust. It could be made smaller using smaller needles or yarn. One side of the finished hexagon is about 45 cm which gave me a sleeve width I was comfortable with. The rest of the sleeve from elbow to cuff was finished in K1P1 rib using 4mm needles. And the cuffs are tubular cast off over 3 mm needles.
I used exactly 6 balls of the Alize Burcum Baby Batik yarn.
