A FREE Knitted Pumpkin pattern for Halloween 2022.

Easy/Suitable for beginners as pieces are knitted flat then sewn together.

This pattern is for one roughly life size pumpkin, but you can make it larger/taller/fatter by adding additional rows and more stuffing.

Gauge is not important as the stuffing stretches the stitches out anyway.

This pattern uses 3 strands of DK & Aran weight yarns in orange/brown colours held together to create a super chunky yarn.

I used approximately 30-50g of each yarn in my pumpkin, but you could tie the ends of scraps together to make a mottled/2 tone stashbuster pumpkin. Using variegated or textured yarns could also create fun effects!

To make this you will need:

  • 150g of orange/brown yarn. I used 3 x 50g balls of orange/brown toned dk and aran yarns held together to create a super chunky weight yarn. 150g of super chunky weight yarn in an orange/brown colour will also work.
  • 20g scraps of brown/green DK yarn for the stalk.
  • 10mm knitting needles, either straight or circular.
  • 4.5mm double pointed needles or straight needles.
  • 1 pipe cleaner or piece of craft wire (optional).
  • Tapestry/wool sewing needle.
  • Scissors or snips.
  • Toy stuffing – 100g or more.
