Here’s a bright idea: Knit your own light…

The desire to make a wall hanging of knitted light came about as I was unpacking my belongings after a recent move -- I came across my little nests of fairy lights carefully tucked away for new walls in a new town. I unearthed a spare set of wooden needles from my early days of knitting that were no longer in use, but still held sentimental value. What better use for them than hanging a knitted swatch of light on them to display a pretty illuminated WIP in my new home?

The string of lights I used is USB powered and can be plugged into a computer or other USB-port power source, and they have silver wire and warm white LED lights. Other light options are out there that would also be suitable: Battery-pack powered, different lengths, copper wire, multicolor or other brightly colored lights…the list goes on. I recommend using lights that are at least 66 ft (20m) in length -- the longer, the better.
