Needles:
A set of circular needles of the preferred size, with cables of at least 60cm / 24inch (choose the size of your needles in regard to the yarn of choice).

The finished sardine’s size may vary:
Approx 11-12cm / 4.5-4.75inch from end to end, and 7.5-8.5cm / 3-3.5inch around at the widest point if using 2mm / US0 needles and 4ply or sock yarn (Drops Fabel: 50g / 1.7oz = 250m / 273yd).
approx15-16cm / 6-6.5inch and 9cm/3.5inch if using 3.5mm / US4 needles and DK yarn (Sandes Garn Peer Gynt: 50g / 1.7oz = 90m / 98yd).

NOTE: This pattern is worked using the magic loop method, over the two needles.
