I wanted to make my mother a Christmas decoration for her house. So I looked on YouTube for a tutorial on making simple balls, and I realized that I could make a snowman with three different sized balls. I knitted it as all one piece and used duplicate stitch to embroider on three buttons on the middle ball, and a smile, nose, and eyes on the top ball. Before closing him up, I stuck a wooden chopstick (a cheap, unused one) inside of the snowman so that he could stand up on his own. I then crocheted him a scarf.

I was not too concerned with gauge for this pattern.

You should need no more than a skein of white yarn, less than half a skein of yarn for his scarf, and a little bit of yarn for his buttons, eyes, smile, and nose.
