A simple and soft rectangular lace shawl that can be knit in a variety of laceweight or fingering yarns. I chose Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud for its soft, drapey feel, but any laceweight yarn that blocks well will work. The main body of the shawl is worked in a simple, easily memorized lace.

I knit this shawl with 8 repeats of the main pattern, but you may knit fewer repeats for a scarf, or more for a wider shawl.

I also included an optional lace edging to start and end the shawl. You can work 15 rows of this edging, or simply start the main body pattern right away.
