A warm and cozy moebius cowl with an easy dropped stitch pattern to show off the beauty of variegated yarn.

A moebius is a twisted loop with only one surface and only one edge, which is knit from the middle outwards, adding stitches on each side of the cast on.

Finished size:
When lying flat and unstretched with the moebius twist on top: circumference approximately 63.5 cm (25”), height approximately 34 cm (13.5”), adjustable

Material:
230 - 320 m (250 - 350 yds) of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 400 m (440 yds) per 100g
3.75 mm / US size 5 circular needle, 120 cm (47”) long
1 stitch marker, darning needle

The pattern creates a rather solid fabric, which is easy to transform into a more lacy style. Ideas for variations are given on page 4 of the pattern.

There are different ways to cast-on for a moebius cowl; instructions for the moebius cast-on are not provided with the pattern. My favourite moebius cast-on is the one by Cat Bordhi. There is a fantastic video by Cat Bordhi on YouTube: “Intro to Moebius Knitting”. It will guide you through the moebius cast-on and the first row in no time, even if you have never knit a moebius before.
