KOLAM was previously published in the August - October 2012 Cast On Magazine as Cable Pillow #2. It can still be found at https://tkga.org for members of TKGA. This pattern is a modification of that pattern, with a different gauge, updated charts and additional information.

Kolam is a pillow tutorial involving single color cables and two color cables on a reverse Stockinette stitch background. The pillow back is worked in Stockinette stitch and then the front and back are joined together with an i-cord binding.

The stitch and row gauge for the pillow fabric is more dense in order to create a pillow top that does not stretch out of shape.

The two color cables are worked in the intarsia method. You can also choose to omit the contrast color cables and work all the cables in one color.

This pillow top square would also be a nice addition to a lap blanket or other blanket consisting of squares joined together.

There are videos for all of the elements in the pattern. There are several stitch combinations that you may not be familiar with and therefore, there is a video for each one.

This pillow top also uses cable flare compensation techniques, which are interesting and create very 3 dimensional cable patterns on a flat surface.

Along with the pattern for the cable pillow top, there are several smaller charted cables for you to practice your skills prior to attempting the pillow top, for those who like to swatch.

I hope you enjoy working this pillow as much as I enjoyed creating it.
