Yarn: 2 skeins SandnesGarn mini alpakka (fingering; 100% pure alpaca; 150m/164yds per 50g ball) or other yarn aproximately 270-300m per 100 gr
or any yarn in similar weight and gauge.
Gauge: 30 sts & 40 rows = 10cm / 4” over St st worked in the round on 2 mm needles, after blocking.
Needles: 1.75 mm / US 00 double pointed needles or needles for working in magic loop;
2 mm / US 0 double pointed needles or needles for working in magic loop.
Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.
Notions: stitch markers, scrap yarn or stitch holder, tapestry needle.
Notes: Mittens Kolosok are worked in the round, starting with a narrow folded cuff. The top of the hand is then worked using Loop Stitch Pattern, with the palm and thumb gusset in Stocking stitch. After the gusset, live sts are placed on hold for the thumb while the body of the mitten is completed, then the thumb is finished in Stocking stitch.
