These mittens are knit cuff up with small amounts of DK weight yarn, perfect for leftovers in your stash. The long colourwork cuff makes for warm wrists, and with both mittens knit the same, no worries about making two left mitts!

PATTERN INFO
Sizes: 1 (2)

Size 1 would fit snugly on most adults who consider themselves to have medium hands. Choose the bigger size for a looser fit or for people with larger hands.

Yarn: DK weight (~ 100 m per 50 g) in three colours:

  • About 30 (45) g colour A (Dark)
  • About 25 (30) g colour B (Light)
  • About 20 (30) g colour C (Bright)

Enjoy stash diving to see what combinations you can come up with! As long as one is dark, one is light and one is bright, it should work out just fine.

Needles: 3.5 and 4.5 mm (US 4 and 7)

Gauge: 14 st for 5 cm

Skills required:

  • Knitting in the round using double pointed needles or the magic loop method
  • Stranded colourwork (knitting with two colours at the same time)
  • Managing colourwork floats
  • Reading a chart
  • Basic increases (kfab) and decreases (k2tog, k2togtbl)
  • Picking up stitches
