Kōwhai is the Māori word for ‘yellow’. It is also the name of a tree which has beautiful, bright yellow, tubular flowers with pointy petals. There is a Kōwhai tree in front of our house and the flowers inspired this skirt.

The skirt is knit from the top down and is a very simple pattern, definitely suitable for beginners.

It is sized from 6m/17” waist to 12y/25” waist. It is very easy to customise length with a chart that gives lengths for ages up to 12y.

The pattern is written for 3 yarn weights - sport, dk and worsted.
