This little Christmas Angel was inspired by the kōwhai tree, a native New Zealand tree that flowers in spring. While this pattern was designed using DK weight yarn, it can be made using any weight of yarn with an appropriate hook size {eg using a 1 mm hook and Pearl 8 cotton I made an angel that was 6 cm (2 ½”) tall and 5.5 cm (2”) wide}. If you are planning on using a yarn that is thicker than DK weight you may find it tricky if you wish to make the version with beads. Feel free to use whatever combination of colours you like. I have created a few of these now, in a range of different colour combinations.

For my original design I used 4 seasons Flinders Cotton 8 ply (Colours A and B) and 4 Seasons Brighton Cotton Blend 8 ply (Colour C) in the following quantities:
Colour A (Green) 8 g (18 m, 20 yds)
Colour B (Yellow) 13 g (30 m, 33 yds)
Colour C (Brown) 4 g (8 m, 8 yds)
