The Kreuzberg slipover features wide stripes in seven colours – but you can choose as many or few as you want to! This design is named after my Berlin neighbourhood where I stumbled upon a 1970s slipover that inspired this modern knit.

This completely seamless slipover is worked top down, beginning with a Provisional Cast-On. The shoulders are shaped with short rows. After the back is completed, the fronts are worked separately (each knitted flat) and the crewneck is shaped with increases. Both sides of the front are then joined and the front is knitted top down flat to the underarm while the armhole is shaped with increases. The back and front are joined in the round for the lower body, which is worked top down in the round to the ribbed hem. Stitches are picked up around the armhole and a ribbed edging is worked in the round. In the same way the ribbed neck edging is worked.

Both ease and length can be adjusted. For example, choose a size with more ease for a more relaxed fit or go down a size for a fitted look. Work more or less stripes to adjust the body length (each stripe is 1.4″ / 3.5 cm wide) to your personal preferences.

The pattern was originally published in “52 Weeks of Easy Knits” by Laine Publishing and is now available individually.
