This pattern is knit in the round. It is a regular size but can be adapted by increasing or decreasing stitches at the beginning of the round in multiples of 4 to cater for the pattern. Adjusting the amount of stiches for the heel and toe as you go. The pattern calls for 9 inch circular needles or needles of your preferred sock knitting method. I find using the circulars is easier when doing colour stranded work. It requires stitch markers, stitch holders, double pointed needles (size 2.5), darning needle and scissors. The pattern lists three colours for this sock but you can just use two, ensuring you wind off enough separate yarn to cater for your heel in the contrast yarn . Unless you know your sizing to add the heel when finished. The pattern gives instruction about knitting the heel in before it is finished to help with sizing. The yarn used was a 4 ply, 75% wool (35% of this is Bluefaced Leicester) and 25% nylon, West Yorkshire Spinners, Signature. Each ball is 100g and will leave you lots of yarn left for more socks or another project. Happy knitting.
