Kuntum Mambang Cowl
This elegant, reversible cowl is inspired by the Pucuk Rebung motif, a symbolic design element found in Songket Minang, a traditional handwoven brocade from the Minangkabau culture of West Sumatra, Indonesia. The name Pucuk Rebung translates to bamboo shoot, a symbol of resilience, growth, and new beginnings. Just like the young bamboo that bends and sways but never breaks, this pattern rises gently in elegant stitches, echoing the strength and grace found in nature and tradition alike.
Kuntum Mambang is worked in the round using the double knitting technique, creating a piece that is fully reversible with a clean, mirrored finish. Whether you’re already comfortable with double knitting or exploring it for the first time, this project offers a rewarding rhythm and a rich cultural backstory woven into every stitch.
