This ethnographic mitten from Rucava, Latvia uses a total of four colors though only one or two colors are used at any one time. The cuff uses a combination of kit rows followed by purl rows that are framed by monochrome half braids. The use of knit/purl rows in cuffs dates back to as early as the 18th Century. Rucava sits in the Southwest corner of Latvia close to the Baltic Sea and near the border with Lithuania.

Changes in yarn or needle size may change the size of the finished mitten. Check your gauge in pattern before casting on.
