The hat is crocheted from the top down. First the cone in a spiral, then a few rows back and forth to make a slit at the back to put the keychain through, and finally joined rounds for the wide brim.

Optionally you can add a fancy edge in the final round and a hat band in a contrast colour using surface crochet.
