The Labyrinth Cushion is a gorgeous colourwork cushion cover which comes in 3 sizes: 38 x 38 (48 x 28) 48 x 48 cm 15 x 15 (19 x 11) 19 x 19 inches. The pattern uses the ‘mosaic knitting’ technique to create the colourwork, meaning you only work with one colour per row.

The cushion is worked flat. You first work the front panel, followed by the back panel. The 2 panels are knitted together using the 3 needle bind off technique, which creates a beautiful decorative edge around the cushion.

The pattern includes 3 options for the stitch pattern, which you can mix and match to create the cushion cover of your dreams. The 3 different stitch patterns work perfectly together. You can choose to make the cushion with or without a zipper. The pattern also includes 2 different gauges for 2 different needles sizes. Choose the needle size and gauge you prefer and follow the instructions for the chosen needle size.

Sizes:
Size 1 (Size 2) Size 3

Measurements:
38 x 38 (48 x 28) 48 x 48 cm 15 x 15 (19 x 11) 19 x 19 inches
Buy an inner cushion that is slightly bigger than the knitted cushion cover so that it fills up the cushion cover perfectly: 40 x 40 (50 x 30) 50 x 50 cm 15.75 x 15.75 (19.75 x 11.75) 19.75 x 19.75 inches

Needles:
This pattern includes 2 different gauges for 2 different needle sizes. You will need 4 sets of needles in total (2 sets of needles per panel):

  • 2x circular needles 4 mm OR 5 mm / cable 60 cm US 6 OR 8 / cable length 24 inches for knitting the cushion (1 set per panel). You will need additional sets of needles for picking up sts around the cushion when you work the 3 needle bind off:
  • 2x circular needles 4 mm OR 5 mm / cable 150 cm US 6 OR 8 / cable length 60 inches set per panel). You could also combine multiple cables with cable connectors if you don’t have 1 long cable. And you could also substitute the 2nd set of needles with a smaller needle size (if you don’t have that many 4 or 5 mm needles) when working the 3 needle bind off, as long as your active working needle is always a 4 OR 5 mm US 6 OR 8 needle.

Gauge:
Worked with needles 4 mm US 6:
Mosaic stitch pattern: 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches = 21 sts x 46 rows
Worked with needles 5 mm US 8:
Mosaic stitch pattern: 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches = 18 sts x 38 rows
