Lace and Pools is a gracious, flowing shawl that incorporates both lace and color pooling, and can be made any size you like. The sections are divided by weight so you can use up your entire skein.

You can make a very understated pooling shawl or you can go crazy and make a very loud, colorful one. My testers and I have made several shawls, from quiet to loud.

You will need one skein of solid-colored yarn for the lace section and a skein of (preferably) hand-painted space-dyed yarn. To determine if your chosen yarn will stripe, check out projects on ravelry made with the yarn you would like to use, and specifically check for socks. If they stripe evenly, your yarn will pool if knit with the correct number of stitches across.

The PDF pattern includes instructions on how to determine if a particular yarn will pool, and includes a sweet calculator to help you determine the number of stitches that will make your particular yarn pool. I have done the math so you don’t have to!

The lace pattern is charted and written out.
