Living on a busy street we needed a fence to remind our kids not to run into the road. I was enamored with Anne Eunson’s knit fence (Google it, it is gorgeous) but (at the time) the pattern wasn’t available. I went to my crafting table and designed this lacier version for myself.
Essentially a lace scarf on a massive scale, this pattern calls for size 21 nylon industrial fishing twine and size 70 (35mm) needles.

Gauge (in pattern) is 10 stitches = 16.33 inches and 10 rows = 18 inches resulting in a 36” tall fence with length as desired. Each 1lb spool of twine (263 yds) produces approximately 13 feet of fence.

I made my needles from a closet pole but 35mm needles are available commercially if whittling and sanding are not your thing.
