This crescent shawl is begun by knitting a narrow lace panel 84 inches in length. The lace pattern is illustrated by a graph. Then stitches are picked up along each long side. After stitches are picked up on the lower aspect, the number of stitches is increased by approximately 9% to allow for the bottom curvature. Then a narrow edging is knitted and stitches are bound off. On the upper aspect of the lace panel, after stitches are picked up, the number of stitches is decreased by approximately 9% to configure the upper curvature. In the body of the shawl, intermittent decrease rows between horizontal panels of lace flowers and plain knitting shape the shawl into a crescent.

Ella Rae Cashmerino Sport knits up beautifully in this shawl.(Just a little of the 8th skein was used for the shawl.) But any soft light color sport weight, such as Cascade Longwood Sport 100% Superwash Extrafine Merino Wool, would work as well.

Dimensions of shawl: 14 inches by 84 inches along the bottom curve.
44 inches across measured at the upper inner corners.
