The hat is knitted in the round. A lace star makes up the crown of the hat. The rim is a basic ribbing1+1 and 1 round of eyelets.

I made the pictured hat using natural colored sportweight yarn made from the fiber of our alpaca Capt’n Jack.

The circumference of the unstretched hat is 19 inches (48cm) and the length is 81/2” (22cm) before blocking.

To knit the hat you will need:
about 130 yard sportweight yarn
1 circular knitting needle size 4 (3.5mm) 16 inches long
1 set of 5 double-pointed needles no.4 (3.5mm)
1 tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
1 stitch marker

This pattern is for personal, non-commercial use only.

If you are interested in our yarn (Timberwolf Farm) I can send you information about what we have available at the time. Since we are selling at local markets, availability of our yarns varies. We have 2 alpacas and 11 sheep. We carry sport weight and DK (light worsted) yarns in white and different shades of gray. Some of it is spun and blended by hand. I also dye yarn with plants from our garden (indigo, coreopsis, madder, marigold, weld) and with acid dyes from the Greener Shades brand.
