This pattern is made with a 3 weight yarn to help create a light and airy vest or cardigan when worn, which makes it perfect for all seasons. The rainbow vest/cardigan pictured is made with Caterina yarn from yarn bee in Saturday Siesta and it has beautiful drape. Other yarn suggestions include lion brand mandala yarn for the ombre look of the yarn.

This pattern outlines sizes: xs, sm, md, lg, xl, 2x, 3x, and 4x. These sizes are based off the bust measurement provided by the craft yarn council under their standard women’s measurements.

A unique thing about this is the amount of variations included within the pattern. It started as a vest, but quickly I had many ideas for it and have decided to include all of them within this pattern. Variations included: bell sleeves, normal long sleeves, and a hood. You can create many combinations from one pattern.

For gauge, you’ll want to crochet a square that is bigger than 2 inches by 2 inches (I suggest 4x4 inches) and take your measurement from within a 2x2 inch area of the square for the most accurate measurement.

You will need:
a 6.5 mm hook (or hook size needed to obtain gauge)
320 to 1500 yds of 3 weight/DK yarn depending on the variation and size you decide on (I used 2 full skeins of Caterina for a small cardigan with bell sleeves)
tape measure
scissors
yarn needle
