Lacy Layers Top
Brief Overview/Tips:
The top is worked from the top down, featuring I-cord straps and slipped-stitch edges.
First, each strap is worked separately with its respective increases. The straps are then joined in pairs on the same needle, and the front and back pieces are worked flat separately. All stitches are then joined, and the remainder of the top is worked in the round.
The top features gentle waist shaping.
The ruffles can be worked as you go or added at the end – the choice is yours.
Size:
1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7
Garment measurements:
Bust circumference approx. 75 (82) 88 (94) 100 (110) 120 cm.
Total length measured from the shoulder approx. 43 (45) 50 (55) 55 (55) 55 cm, or desired length.
The model is wearing size 2 and usually wears size M, with 6 cm of negative ease.
A strappy top may feel roomier than the stated bust circumference measurement.
Yarn requirements:
The top is worked holding 1 strand of Arwetta (210 m/50 g) together with 1 strand of Tilia (210 m/25 g) from Filcolana.
The ruffles are worked using only 1 strand of Tilia.
Arwetta: 100 (100) 100 (150) 150 (200) 250 g
Tilia: 75 (100) 100 (125) 175 (200) 225 g
Recommended Needles:
4 mm circular needle, 60 cm. (Sizes 4–7 may use an 80 cm circular needle.)
Gauge:
22 sts × 30 rnds = 10 × 10 cm using 1 strand of each yarn held together on 4 mm needles.
(If you achieve the correct number of stitches but not the correct number of rounds, I recommend not increasing needle size.)
