This lacy necktie was featured in Godey’s Lady’s Book in 1865. The lapels are knitted first, and then the border is worked separately and sewn on. The original pattern called for a white main body and a red border. This delicate and fashionable accessory is to be worn over the dress collar. It is not a scarf, or collar replacement. A yarn with a tighter twist, will give a lacier look.
