This small, lightweight blanket has multiple uses. It was originally designed as a baby shawl or crib blanket, but it could also be used by an adult as a lap warmer, a table centrepiece, a bedside rug, a decorative mini-throw for an armchair, or even a flamboyant scarf. Do not use it as a cat or dog blanket, however, because these animals are likely to get their claws caught in the lacy lattice fabric.

The blanket has an unusual diamond shape, but being super-stretchy, it can be spread out and lightly ironed into a square if preferred. The eyelet lattice stitch looks complicated, but is actually a very simple and easy 2-row repeat.

This is a great pattern for using up small amounts of acrylic yarn in your stash. Each of the 7 stripes takes approximately 20g of yarn, with another 15g or so needed for the picot border. The yardage shown here is a very rough calculation.
