A delicate baby cardigan featuring a pretty shell lace pattern that forms a soft scalloped edge. Designed for age 0–3 months and knitted in DK yarn, this cardigan is worked in one piece from the lower hem up to the armholes, creating a beautifully smooth body with no side seams.
The sleeves are knitted separately from the cuff upwards, then joined to the body so the yoke can be shaped seamlessly in one piece, forming the neckline and shoulders with gentle, uninterrupted curves. A ribbed buttonband and three button fastening complete the cardigan with a classic, tidy finish.
Sizes: 1 size included to fit a child 0-3 months old. The length of the jacket is 20 cms/8 inches.
Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided.
Yarn: Double knitting wool is required wool (an alternative for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.
Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
