Crochet lacy skeleton applique motif! I used Aran weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver) and a 3.5 mm hook to make a 13 1/2 inch applique; size 10 crochet thread (Aunt Lydia’s) and a 1.5 mm hook to make a 6 1/2 inch applique; and 2 strands of embroidery floss (DMC) and a 1 mm hook to make a 4 inch applique.

First picture is the smallest, made with embroidery floss; 2nd picture is the middle size, made with crochet thread; and 3rd picture is the largest, made with Aran weight yarn; last picture is all 3 sizes together, to compare sizes. You could easily customize the size by using a smaller yarn and hook size, such as DK yarn and a 2.5 mm hook, for example.

The largest size makes for great Halloween decor, or can be sewn to a large garment, like a sweater. The 2 smaller sizes can be sewn to just about anything, or incorporated into lace projects, such as Irish crochet lace.

All 3 sizes are made in the exact same way. You can find the video tutorial on my Youtube channel, at the link.
