This pretty lace version of the traditional string bag can comfortably hold five and a half kilos of fruit, vegetables and groceries. The handles are wide enough to spread the load on your hand and long enough to keep your shopping well above the ground as you walk.

Knitted in two pieces this is a quick and fun project to make.

Candle Light, a classic lace pattern has been included here but any more or less complicated pattern could used instead.

The bag pictured was knitted from 60 grams (less than 2.5 oz) 8 ply acrylic, a strong easy to wash hard wearing yarn.

Carrying home your groceries had never been this much fun!
