Size Modification Notes – For Larger Sizes (L–2X)
These bottoms are fully customizable, thanks to the tie-side construction. Use the following guidelines to achieve a comfortable and flattering fit for larger sizes:
-
Waist/Hip Width: • Add extra V-stitch repeats across the body of the front and back panels. • Each V-stitch repeat adds approx. 1” of width. • For every 2” increase in hip circumference, add 1 extra V-stitch to the foundation row.
-
Rise Adjustments: • To provide more vertical coverage (especially for curvier hips or fuller bellies), add 1–3 rows to both front and back panels. • Focus extra rows on the center back for a more secure rear fit. • Consider adding a few short rows at the top edge to shape a slight high-rise curve.
-
Leg Hole Fit: • If the leg openings feel tight, skip fewer stitches when forming the curve or edge shaping. • Use additional chain stitches in corners to soften curves and prevent digging.
-
Ties & Support: • For more security on plus sizes, make ties wider (e.g., 2 sc rows or a small I-cord) and longer (at least 18–24” per side) to allow wrapping or bowing comfortably without strain.
-
Lining Tips (Optional): • Use lightweight stretch mesh or swimwear lining and hand-sew to the inside of the bottom pieces. • Cut the lining 1/2” smaller than the crochet panel to prevent gaping or bunching.
