This pattern is a part of NAUTICAL Accessories Collection.

The versatility of classic work shawls, worn by fishermen’s wives, inspired me to design this piece large enough to wrap around the shoulders and tie in the back for full arm movement.
The cushiony garter stitch body is echoed in the horizontal rib on the wide flaring border, which features the same stitch pattern as the Ladder Cap, which could be paired with in a matching set.

Finished Measurements
70”/178 cm wingspan.
22”/56 cm height at center spine.
Measurements are taken after blocking.

Yarn
Approximately 900 yds/823 m of sport weight yarn.
3 skeins of Cascade Yarns Venezia Sport (70% Merino, 30%
Silk, 307 yds/281 m in 100 g); #195 Navy.
Note: My sample used almost all of three skeins..
I recommend purchasing a fourth skein to make sure you have
enough yarn to finish.

Needles
Size US 6/4 mm circular needle 32”/80 cm long, or size to
obtain gauge.
While gauge is not critical for this project, different gauge can
affect the size and overall yardage.

Notions
Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle, waste yarn for
Provisional Cast On, crochet hook size G/4 mm.

Gauge
16 stitches and 36 rows = 4”/10 cm on size US 6/4 mm needles
in Garter stitch, after blocking.

Construction Notes
• This shawl is worked from the top edge down.
• Knitters may consider placing markers between the chart
repetitions on border.
