Laden is chock-full of texture and techniques to tickle your fancy. This faux Möbius cowl (or “fauxbius”) starts with a provisional cast-on. Then a length of reversible cables and double-sided lace is knit with or without beads. Finally, the rectangle is twisted, grafted, and banded to hide the seam. What fun!

The juxtaposition of reversible cables and double-sided lace makes me swoon! Heavy cables play against this delicate lace stitch, creating an unexpected fabric that flows around the neck and shoulders beautifully. Cowls are a much-loved accessory in my wardrobe. As soon as the first Laden was finished, I had to knit another version with beads! Once you see how I’ve added beads to a previously plain pattern, you may well be inspired to reimagine another pattern in this book with beads.
