Notes From the Designer:

This sumptuous shawl is knit with a 50/50 blend of merino wool and silk, making a garment that is both soft and luxurious. The King Charles Brocade stitch pattern combined with the silk, catches the light, causing an almost jewel-like effect. The scalloped edging along the bottom of the shawl is created using short rows and then knit upwards to form the main body, with the edges of the shawl picked up vertically and knit outwards to finish. The finished garment is generous, allowing plenty of length for warmth and styling.

  • Click here to learn how to Cast On with the Double Needle Cast On.
  • The main body of the shawl is worked first.
  • The main body of the shawl begins by knitting by 5 individual “scallops” that are worked separately and then knitted together to form the bottom edge of the shawl.
  • When beginning the main body of the shawl, pull the yarn tightly where each scallop joins to the next one to create a firm edge.
  • The edge is picked up vertically along the sides of the main body of the shawl and knit outwards.
