Lady Lovelace is a crescent shaped, top-down shawl, inspired by the colors and lace of the Victorian era. It can be knit with one or two skeins of fingering weight yarn, making a small or large shawl. The shawl starts with a stockinette body followed by three lace sections that increase in difficulty.

At the start of the Victorian era, Ada Lovelace wrote the first algorithm meant to be carried out by a machine, making her the first computer programmer. This shawl includes a stitch which was encoded from the word “raven” by gannet.
