Lady of Lórien Shawl
Simple and elegant, the Lady of Lorien Shawl is a timeless crescent shawl pattern. Among its many desirable qualities is the fact that there is nary a purl stitch in the entire shawl. Slender slipped stitch columns are set against a backdrop of relaxing garter stitch, which perfectly balances cozy plumpness with lightweight wearability, and radiate as the light of the lady’s star phial. A modified old shale lace pattern finishes the piece with ripples subtly reminiscent of the waters of Galadriel’s mirror.
Measurements
Wingspan - 78in. (195cm)
Depth - 19in. (48cm)
Note: a greater depth can be achieved during blocking if desired. I decided to pull the bottom edge just enough to open up the lace border, because I didn’t want to open up the garter stitch of the main body too much, but if you want a deeper shawl or like the look of it stretched out more, then feel free to block a little more aggressively.
Gauge
24 sts x 40 rows = 4in (10cm) in stockinette worked flat after blocking
