Knitting pattern for a basic close-fitting beanie hat in 7 sizes, to fit a newborn baby right up to adult size, plus instructions to make it into either a ladybird or a frog hat.

There are a choice of sizes of eyes for the frog and head pieces for the ladybird to fit the size of beanie you are making. Also a choice of 2 simple hem styles.

This is a written pattern for a hat made on 2 needles with a back seam, using any smooth 8 ply / DK yarn.

The basic hat pattern is the same for either the ladybird or the frog and can also be used as a simple stocking stitch beanie pattern without the creature features.

(BTW if anyone recognises these designs from an old copy of “Creative Knitting” and thinks I’ve stolen the ideas – no, they were my patterns that were published and I’ve just rewritten and improved them).
