Boot cuffs using the Latvian Braid technique. The pattern is engineered for Urth Uneek striped yarn.

A skein of Urth Yarns Harvest fingering and Uneek fingering is needed, and you have enough yarn to knit two pairs of boot cuffs, or a set of Laima’s wrist warmers and boot cuffs.

Latvian braids looking like fir branches on something as simple as these boot cuffs will point either right or left.

Laima is responsible for fate or destiny, and one of her signs is a fir branch. The evenly spaced slanted lines represent the good and bad, night and day, the ups and downs that happen in life. There is balance, you cannot see or appreciate good if you have never known bad. A line down the center (preferably green) is Laima’s thread. This is how she pulls us through life. You can wear your boot cuffs on either leg, so that you have them pointing in, if you feel the need to protect yourself, or if you feel you have energy and love to give to others wear them pointing out. Does this really work? Well if you think it’s silly then no, but if you believe it with your whole being, like a good luck charm, you will have help from Laima to get or give what you feel in your heart.
