Lakeside Light is the smaller gauge sibling to my popular Lakeside boot socks. It’s designed for fingering weight yarn but still offered in five family-friendly sizes. I believe that extra small and extra big feet deserve to be warm too!

The sock is knit toe up, beginning with a Turkish cast on. A little bit of lace creates waves on the instep and front leg reminiscent of the shoreline of your favorite lake.

Line-by-line directions for the shadow wrap short row heel are included for each size, making this pattern accessible to beginner sock knitters and more advanced ones who wish to try a new technique. The magic loop method of small circumference knitting is referenced throughout the pattern, but knitters who wish to use DPNs to knit the socks should have no trouble doing so.

Techniques Used:
Turkish cast on
Knitting in the round with magic loop
Short row heel with shadow wraps
KFB and YO increases
SSK and K2tog decreases
Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bindoff
