Laminae is an easily customized textured beanie or slouchy hat. It is knit in the round, starting with a ribbed brim, followed by a simple diagonal texture pattern using knits and purls before decreasing for the crown. Instructions are given for two sizes, adult beanie, and adult slouch, but the pattern can be easily customized with different sized brims, different numbers of repeats for the body of the hat, or by casting on any multiple of 12 for a variety of looks and fits.

In geology, laminae are thin layers of sedimentary rock such as sandstone or shale. Lamina usually forms in quiet waters such as deep marine settings or at the bottom of lakes, where cyclical changes in the supply of sediment created the beautiful layers seen today.

Errata: Repeat the pattern three times. If a shorter, watch cap look is desired, repeat only two times. Repeat rows 1 and 2 one more time. On the last repeat of row 2, pm every twelve stitches.
