**FEB 2026 UPDATE: Lanark is now available in both Half Fishermans Rib AND stockinette options and includes Masc and Femme sizing. When you purchase this pattern you’ll get four files, Femme HFR, Femme Stockinette, Masc HFR, Masc Stockinette**

The Lanark Sweater is an oversized, drop-shoulder sweater, knit in Half Fisherman’s Rib or in Stockinette and finished with a sewn-in zipper. The sweater is worked top-down, first flat and then in the round.

Yarn
The samples were knit in Bare Naked Wools Kent DK (brown), West Yorkshire Spinners Jacobs Fleece DK (ecru), Tukuwool DK (blue), KFO Merino and mohair (orange) and Cascade 220 (Grey)

Testers also used Sandnesgarn Peer Gynt, Drops Lima, Kelbourne Woolens Scout, WYS BFL Fleece DK and Woolyknit 4ply held double (or held with mohair).

You can use any yarn for this pattern and the same yarn could be used for either version.

A firmer/denser yarn will give you a collar that stands up around the neck (like the white and grey versions). An airier/looser yarn will give you a collar that lies flat across the shoulders (like the orange one).
