These Fair Isle socks use small motifs and can be made up from scraps left over from other projects, or as they might have been during the last war, knitted from wool unpicked from old worn out jumpers.

The colours in this version of the design are intended to be worn with jeans. There is another version available in greens and madder reds which would go quite well with khaki overalls.

The colours I used are available in a kit from Renaissance Dyeing. These are the quantities:
Pastel (pale blue): 20gms
Puivert (mid blue): 10gms
Indigo (dark blue): 25gms
Castellan (purple): 8gms
Rhondel (maroon): 8gms
Narbonne (yellow): 10gms
Comtessa (pink): 8gms
Carmine (cochineal red): 11gms
