Any nice worsted weight yarn may be used on mid-gauge & bulky machines. The pattern also includes a standard gauge version that employs fingering weight yarn. Because the project is small, it’s a great place to use a luxury yarn. Also required is a small amount of Lion Fun Fur. One skein will make at least 2 pairs of mittens. The mittens are very quick and easy and make excellent gifts and craft sale projects. The pattern is part of a 2 volume book called Great Knitted Gifts. All of the projects are great for gift giving because they don’t require a lot of fitting, have wide appeal and require an affordable investment of both time and yarn. The tables of contents in the two volumes are shown below. The book includes both volumes in one download.

Volume 1
This is a collection of small projects that fit the gift-giving profile. The wording in these patterns is the kind those who knit on Japanese machines are accustomed to except that it is not abbreviated at all. The patterns can be accomplished on other machines so chapters on help for Passap knitters and hobby machine knitters are included. Passap knitters must use different fairisle cards than the 2 given. Knitting for re-sale and charity is fine.
