Feel free to use any yarn you like! I recommend sizing your hook down half a mm from what your yarn recommends for a slightly tighter tension. I also recommend using the same fiber and weight of yarn for the main colors of your project to get a more uniform look. Your yarn and hook size will determine the size of your finished project
My first sample used worsted weight (weight 4) recycled wool yarn with a 4.5mm hook. The finished fish is approximately 3 feet long.
My second sample used a sport weight (weight 2) recycled cotton with a 2.75mm hook. The finished fish is approximately 20 inches long.
