Last Snow Big Green Woolen Blanket
A big and very warm throw/bed spread/blanket/maxi shawl that is quite easy to knit and VERY cozy to wrap in/sleep under/cuddle within/lay on.
The pattern includes a colourwork scheme, the number of stitches or cm/inches for different stages, photos of the important details, recommendations for blocking and care.
Yarn:
Knitted with woolen yarn 400m/100g (held togeher - 2 threads) on 6mm circular needles, with a bit of colourwork. You can use any yarn you love, though I highly recommend 400m/100g woolen yarn held together, this makes the blanket super warm and durable. I would suggest machine washable yarn, and this size of blanket fits into most of washing machines.
For the size stated in description (and on the photo) I used approx. 350g of white colour and approx. 1750g of main colour (dark green). The total weight is approx.2100g, which makes it a sort of a weighted blanket. The final size is 200cm/78inch length x 180cm/71inch width. The colourwork stripe is approx. 23cm/9 inches.
Very warm to sleep under, would be a good addition as a winter blanket.
PLEASE ALWAYS KNIT A SWATCH TO TEST THE YARN THAT YOU CHOSE :wink:
Instruments:
- circular needles 6mm (I used Addi, they are super smooth and knit themselves :) ), the length of the cord depends on what size do you wish, I used 120mm length. Please note that needles must keep weight well, so I would recommend metal ones;
- circular needles 5mm - optional;
- a knitting hook for raising stitches, from 3mm, may be larger;
- a big/tapestry needle, scissors.
Techniques:
- knit, purl
- casting, closing the stitches
- raising/picking stitches with a knitting hook
- stranded colourwork (max.strand is 5 stitches)
- sewing, a bit of mattress stitch
The blanket knits in a stockinette stitch - front side is knits, back side is purls, with stranded colourwork, then edges are added. If you prefer to use steek technique, you can apply it here, since the edges help to hide any mischievous cuts :)))
