This is a pattern for an Aran cabled scarf. (It differs from the Alpine Cable Scarf that I also have available in this same section of my Etsy shop.) Aran cabling is the more familiar type of cabling, and comes to us from Ireland. This particular cable is a fairly wide one, making it the perfect one for a scarf. Although the scarf is made using a worsted weight yarn, the turtleneck section will keep you warm without a lot of excess bulkiness. There are also instructions for an optional crocheted edging.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, purling and cabling)

This pattern was expertly tested by Lori Veteto who can be contacted at:
hooknneedler@cimtel.net, and is known on Ravelry as “the” hooknneedler.

This pattern is both charted and written out line by line.

The yarn used in the sample is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted in colorway, Fjord.
