Late Summer Seas Neck Warmer
I developed this pattern after coming across a box of wool that I had put into storage – as soon as I opened it the colours reminded me of the colours of sea in late summer in Scotland. At this time of year, the seas start to change colours, from the oceanic blue to include darker and lighter shades depending on the time of day and the changing skies which are starting to roll in for autumn. All of the colours used are from the Jamieson’s of Shetland Heather Aran collection. It is wonderful wool to work with, and the colours have knitted together even nicer that I imaged when I first looked in the box.
The vertical stripe pattern is easy to achieve, and provides a wonderfully methodical and immersive rhythm of knitting. The finished product looks wonderful – combining traditionally produced fibres with a contemporary look.
