These socks were inspired by the lovely green color of the yarn. I wanted to create a pattern that reminded me of alligators and other assorted reptiles. The “scales” on the leg are made using short rows and a tiny bit of lace. In keeping with the short row theme, a short row heel is used.

Errata: There was a small error in the heel instructions. If you download the pattern after 6/27/09, it is fixed, but for anyone who downloaded it before the following portion of the heel:

K13, K st along with wrap, w&t (This stitch will now have two wraps)
P14, w&t (This stitch will now have two wraps)
K15, K st along with two wraps, w&t
P16, P st along with two wraps, w&t
K17, K st along with two wraps, w&t

should say

K13, K st along with wrap, w&t (This stitch will now have two wraps)
P14, P st along with wrap, w&t (This stitch will now have two wraps)
K15, K st along with two wraps, w&t
P16, P st along with two wraps, w&t
K17, K st along with two wraps, w&t

Sorry for any problems this might have caused.
